Literary Drama
You might call it a love letter either to depression or the other emotions many do their best to avoid, but I look for beauty and glimmers of hope in them, the helpers that try, the chances people get to escape and sometimes miss. It’s told in pieces through the stories of many different characters throughout the 1900s, all with something or someone in common.
The most often asked question I’ve received from those who’ve had the opportunity to read the manuscript early is whether these are true stories. That they feel this way is a good thing to me. Fiction or otherwise, it’s raw, sometimes dark prose not afraid to show the reality of what happened out there.
Many years passed from when this book was first thought up until I typed the last words during my time in Rhode Island, a long string of years that had variety and lots of turns in my own life. Continent hopping, from isolation to Hollywood, through deserts and cities and trees, both wild and stagnant times, comfort and poverty. These are all helpful experiences when writing about people.
Work to get this published was put on a simmer when I got engulfed by my next novel and then moved to New York, but it’s one of the works I’ll get to you when possible.

Unless you've spent some time in the gutters of humanity it's difficult to know what they're like. You can't just stand on the sidewalk, take a whiff, and surmise experience from the stench.
